Hello everybody!
My thoughts and prayers are with those still without power or dealing with other impacts of last Friday’s storms, including a number of members of our community.
I want to offer my congratulations to John Coons and our Fish Fry team for receiving a Fish Fry of the Decade award from the Fry Guys, also last Friday. It is well deserved and I am grateful for the many years of service given to help build community in our parish family. If you haven’t been to one of our fish fry’s, come on out!
I also offer my congratulations and appreciation to Deacon Greg Gitschier, who will receive the Community Service Award from the Catholic Education Foundation tomorrow at their annual Salute to Catholic School Alumni Dinner. It, too, is well deserved!
This weekend, please pray for the women attending the Welcome Retreat and for those who are giving of themselves to make the retreat possible. May God meet them where they are and provide exactly what they need.
If you weren’t able to attend in person, you can still see the three nights of our Family Retreat with Dr. Marcellino D’Ambrosio (Dr. Italy), 40 Days/ 40 Ways: a New Look at Lent, on our YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/c/saintpatrickcatholicchurch.
Although one of the markers of Lent is abstaining from meat on Friday, sometimes it happens that a particular Feast Day falls on a Friday in Lent. St. Patrick’s feast falls on Friday, March 17, this year and Archbishop Shelton has granted a dispensation for all Catholics in the Archdiocese of Louisville from abstaining from meat on that day.
Finally, I will be heading out for a vacation with three couples to the Grand Canyon on Friday. It was rescheduled from June due to a schedule conflict and I almost didn’t go because of the proximity to the religious education conference I and our operations team just got back from. I’ll be back before St. Patrick’s Day and won’t be gone again until I head out with members our Scout Troop 380 for seven days of backpacking in New Mexico in July. My prayers will be with you!
Peace,
Fr. Jeff
